School of Service · Calculate the potential
What could additional sales mean for your business?
Start with your daily operation. Explore the value of relevant recommendations, how results might build over time and what it would take to recover your investment.
The engagement length and the period over which you estimate results are different. All amounts are in Swedish kronor, excluding VAT. No email required.
Your assumptions.
Count separate additional purchases only. Do not count the same purchase in several opportunities, even when several colleagues contribute.
Your potential results.
Additional monthly revenue once the approach is fully established
SEK 25,000
Additional contribution: SEK 17,500 per month
Before ongoing additional monthly costs. Applies only during the assumed sales increase. What would it take to break even within 12 months?
0.5 additional purchases per person per dayOnce the approach is fully established. This is a scenario, not a forecast or guarantee. Contribution is not net profit. Service design can also support confidence, consistency and the guest experience; these benefits are not included here.
How we calculate
Additional monthly revenue for each opportunity at full effect = team members × operating days × additional purchases per person per day × purchase value. Contribution = revenue × contribution margin. The amounts for all opportunities are added together.
Your three ramp-up percentages apply from the first month with results, followed by 100% until the final month with results. Other months generate no additional sales. Each percentage refers to your estimated sales increase, not to all existing sales.
Net benefit = total additional contribution − one-off investment − ongoing additional costs during the period. ROI = net benefit ÷ total one-off investment and ongoing additional costs during the period. ROI is not shown when costs are zero.
Payback is the first month when accumulated additional contribution after monthly costs covers the one-off investment. A fraction of a month is calculated proportionally. Later costs can reduce the outcome again, especially if the sales increase ends. Compare the period results as well.
The break-even threshold shows the additional purchases per team member per day needed with the same staffing, operating days, purchase values, margins and ramp-up. For multiple opportunities, this threshold assumes the same number of additional purchases per person per day in each opportunity. It is a shared calculation assumption, not an individual sales target.
How do we choose realistic assumptions?
Start with current sales and a specific opportunity in the guest interaction. Not every recommendation becomes a purchase. Compare similar periods and consider occupancy, seasonality, promotions and capacity.
Assume results continue after the engagement only if you plan to sustain the approach. A larger package does not automatically generate more purchases. Add separate opportunities when the work actually covers them. Monthly costs, timing and ramp-up are shared across opportunities; calculate them separately if they start at different times.
What is contribution margin?
If an additional purchase brings in SEK 50 excluding VAT and variable costs are SEK 15, SEK 35 remains: 70%. Contribution helps cover fixed costs and profit. Variable costs must be reflected in the contribution margin. Additional fixed costs to sustain the work can be entered as monthly costs.
